CAN WE BE PERFECT?

November 11, 2007

by Jon Williams

I was reading Proverbs 2:20-22…. Did that say perfect? wait a minute… Only the Son can be perfect…
Roman 8:29 “For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestine to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.”

His image is not His physical likeness… imagine a man gets married to a girl, and the girl turns into the physical likeness of Jesus, and has a beard and now resembles a man… I’d be creeped out!!! It’s His spiritual image (His character) that we are conforming to, not His physical image!

Other scriptures on ‘Perfect’:
Matt 5:48 & 1 Corinthians 2:6

Other scriptures on ‘Without Sin’:
1 John 3:8-9

1Co 6:9-11
9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites,
10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.
11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.

That covers all the iniquity of us humans… and not me but God says “do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God?”
Wait those who don’t go to heaven where do they go? Uh-oh…. So who does inherit the Kingdom?

Pro 2:20-22
20 So you may walk in the way of goodness, And keep to the paths of righteousness.
21 For the upright will dwell in the land, And the blameless will remain in it;
22 But the wicked will be cut off from the earth, And the unfaithful will be uprooted from it.

1Pe 2:24
24 who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.

1Jn 3:5
5 And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin.

Wait… “to take away the sin of the world”… did I see that???? Then why is there sin still in the world did the Messiah not do what He came to do or did we just not follow Him? I blame the church.

2Ti 3:1-5
1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come:
2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good,
4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,
5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!
