FEAST OF DEDICATION

January 14, 2010

by Kari Duda – Dallas, TX, USA  Age: 46

This is some of the word what I taught my grandsons when I studied about Chanukkah for my visit to California over the holidays.

Ezra 6:16 And the children of Israel, the priests, and the Levites, and the rest of the children of the captivity, kept the DEDICATION of this HOUSE of God with joy,

DEDICATION in Hebrew is Chanukka 2497 – dedication, which corresponds to 2498 Chanukka – dedication, consecration.
The Gesenius Lexicon defines it as initiation, handselling of a house.
Some of the definitions for handselling from the Webster’s are a first installment of payment, the initial experience of anything, a foretaste, experience for the first time.
This word is from 2496 chanak – to train, dedicate, inaugurate.
The Lexicon – to make narrow, to be narrow, to strangle, to put something into the mouth, to give to be tasted, to initiate a house…
We know that we are the house and we are the temple, 1Cr 3:16 , 2Cr 6:16…

1 Chronicles 26:27, 28 Out of the spoils won in battles did they dedicate (to consecrate, sanctify, prepare, dedicate) to maintain (to strengthen, prevail, be firm, to press, to repair/ from the Lexicon- to tie fast, to bind bonds strongly) the house of the LORD. And all that Samuel the seer, and Saul the son of Kish… had DEDICATED; and whosoever had DEDICATED was under the hand (hand power, portion) of Shelomith, and of his brethren.
Shelomith means “peaceful”
`and is from: Shalowm (shalom) – completeness, soundness, welfare, peace, completeness (in number), safety, soundness -in body, welfare, health, prosperity, peace, quiet, tranquility, contentment, friendship, of human relationships, with God especially in covenant relationship

So whoever/whatever was dedicated was under the hand/power of peace.
This reminds me of salvation in the New Testament
NT – SALVATION: deliverance, preservation, safety, salvation, deliverance from the molestation of enemies, the present possession of all true Christians from: saviour, deliverer, preserver. from: SAVE – sozo – to save, keep safe and sound, to rescue from danger or destruction – one suffering from disease, to make well, heal, restore to health Lex> salvation begins in this life, in DELIVERANCE FROM ERROR and CORRUPT NOTIONS, in moral purity, in pardon of sin and blessed peace of a soul reconciled to God.

Mat 9:21 For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole.= sozo, the same word as SAVE (above) in the Greek.

Eph 6:15 And your feet shod (to bind under one’s self, bind on) with the preparation –(the act of preparing) of the gospel (a reward for good tidings, of salvation through Christ) of peace;- security, safety, prosperity, the way that leads to peace (salvation).

The Menorah is symbolic of the church, Rev 1:20
that means that the oil is the church with the Holy Spirit in it and the Holy Spirit is the revelator, the teacher and the counselor.

We are sealed (marked) with the Holy Spirit of promise (Thayers-to proclaim life in fellowship with Christ, benefits of salvation) which is the earnest (money which in purchases is given as a pledge or down payment that the full amount will subsequently be paid, Thayers – a foretaste, a pledge of future blessing) of our inheritance (as an heir) until the redemption (a releasing effected by payment of ransom, Thayers – redeem one by paying a price, deliverance) of the purchased possession. (Preserving, an obtaining) Eph 1:13, 1

1Ki 9:7 Then will I cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them; and this house, which I have hallowed for my name, will I cast out of my sight; and Israel shall be a proverb (similitude, parable- from to make like, assimilate, to be compared, cause to rule, to give dominion) and a byword (sharp (cutting) word, taunt) among all people:
Rom 11:22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, (descend from a higher place to a lower, to fail of participating in, miss a share in, to lose authority, no longer have force) severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue (tarry still, to abide, to continue, remain, to preserve) in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off. (cut out, cut off a tree)

Rom 2:28-29 For he is not a Jew (belonging to kingdom of Judah, meaning praise) who is one outwardly (apparent, manifest, evident), nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh (human nature, the earthly nature); but he is a Jew who is one inwardly (hidden, concealed, secret); and circumcision (metaph. of Christians separated from the unclean multitude and truly consecrated to God, the extinction of passions and the removal of spiritual impurity) is that of the heart, in the Spirit, not in the letter (written document, epistle, written acknowledgment of a debt, bill); whose praise is NOT from men but from God.

So the true Jew is not one outwardly apparent or manifested in the earthly nature but one who is inwardly hidden/concealed – hence a “mystery” to the ungodly- and truly separated and consecrated to God by the teaching of the Holy Spirit and not literal understanding of the letter (Word of God).

Deuteronomy 29:29 “The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do (accomplish) all the words of this law (Torah, direction, instruction, prophetic teaching).
Secret- to be hidden, be concealed. Revealed- to uncover, remove, to be disclosed, be discovered, to make known, show, reveal
Luke 8:10 And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.
Mysteries: a hidden or secret thing, not obvious to the understanding, secret will of God: the secret counsels which govern God in dealing with the righteous, which are hidden from ungodly and wicked men but plain to the godly. Parables – an earthly story with a heavenly meaning, proverb.
