I saw the angel of the Lord and he offered me a bowl. Inside of the bowl was Golden Barley.
” Here, take this,” he said, “I am offering this to you.”
I stared at the bowl; it was Golden and full, so why was the Angel Of he Lord giving me this bowl, I thought? Was I to eat of it? What did it mean? Why the golden Barley? So I began my study. The Barley and the wheat represent two different things:
There is the harvest of Passover (Barley)
There is the harvest of Pentecost (Wheat)
Barley in the Hebrew is the word Orah. Here is the definition.
Hebrew 8184 (se’ orah); meaning plant; (masc mean.the grain); also; from 8175 in the sense of roughness;barley
8175; sa ar; to storm, to shiver, come to take away as a “Whirlwind”, be tempestuous.
Numbers 5.15 Then the man shall bring his wife to the priest. He shall bring the offering required for her, one-tenth of an ephah of barley meal; he shall pour no oil on it and put no frankincense on it, because it is a grain offering of jealousy, an offering for remembering, for bringing iniquity to remembrance.
Deuteronomy 8.77 For the LORD your God is bringing you into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and springs, that flow out of valleys and hills; 8 a land of wheat and barley, of vines and fig trees and pomegranates, a land of olive oil and honey;
Ruth 1.22 So Naomi returned, and Ruth the Moabitess her daughter-in-law with her, who returned from the country of Moab. Now they came to Bethlehem at the beginning of barley harvest.
2Samuel 17.27-30 Now it happened, when David had come to Mahanaim, that Shobi the son of Nahash from Rabbah of the people of Ammon, Machir the son of Ammiel from Lo Debar, and Barzillai the Gileadite from Rogelim, 28 brought beds and basins, earthen vessels and wheat, barley and flour, parched grain and beans, lentils and parched seeds, 29 honey and curds, sheep and cheese of the herd, for David and the people who were with him to eat. For they said, “The people are hungry and weary and thirsty in the wilderness.”
2Samuel 21.9 And he delivered them into the hands of the Gibeonites, and they hanged them on the hill before the LORD. So they fell, all seven together, and were put to death in the days of harvest, in the first days, in the beginning of barley harvest.10 Now Rizpah the daughter of Aiah took sackcloth and spread it for herself on the rock, from the beginning of harvest until the late rains poured on them from heaven. And she did not allow the birds of the air to rest on them by day nor the beasts of the field by night
2 King 4.42-44 Then a man came from Baal Shalisha, and brought the man of God bread of the firstfruits, twenty loaves of barley bread, and newly ripened grain in his knapsack. And he said, “Give it to the people, that they may eat.” 43 But his servant said, “What? Shall I set this before one hundred men?”He said again, “Give it to the people, that they may eat; for thus says the LORD: ‘They shall eat and have some left over.’”44 So he set it before them; and they ate and had some left over, according to the word of the LORD.
Revelation 6.6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, “A quart[a] of wheat for a denarius,[b] and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not harm the oil and the wine.
Here are a list of Hebrew words that speak of wheat.
(bar) and it means bar;borrowed, from 1305, in the sense of winnowing; grain of any kind(even while standing in the field)
(dagan) increase, grain ;- corn, wheat, corn-flour
(chittah) wheat grain or plant
(riyphanas) pounded;ground corn,wheat

Genesis 30.14 Now Reuben went in the days of wheat harvest and found mandrakes in the field, and brought them to his mother Leah. Then Rachel said to Leah, “Please give me some of your son’s mandrakes.”
Exodus 34.22 “And you shall observe the Feast of Weeks, of the firstfruits of wheat harvest, and the Feast of Ingathering at the year’s end.
Ruth 2.23 So she stayed close by the young women of Boaz, to glean until the end of barley harvest and wheat harvest; and she dwelt with her mother-in-law.
2 Samuel 17.28 Now it happened, when David had come to Mahanaim, that Shobi the son of Nahash from Rabbah of the people of Ammon, Machir the son of Ammiel from Lo Debar, and Barzillai the Gileadite from Rogelim, 28 brought beds and basins, earthen vessels and wheat, barley and flour, parched grain and beans, lentils and parched seeds, 29 honey and curds, sheep and cheese of the herd, for David and the people who were with him to eat. For they said, “The people are hungry and weary and thirsty in the wilderness.”
Proverbs 27.22 Though you grind a fool in a mortar with a pestle along with crushed grain,Yet his foolishness will not depart from him.
Joel 2.24 The threshing floors shall be full of wheat,And the vats shall overflow with new wine and oil.
Revelation 18.13 The threshing floors shall be full of wheat,And the vats shall overflow with new wine and oil.
When Israel entered into the promised land they were commanded to keep the “Feast Day Of The sheaf Of Firstfruits“. It involved the harvest period under passover and Penticost. It could not be kept in the wilderness as that was a place of wondering, and feeding on the manna from heaven. It was not a place of harvest or feeding on the fruit of the land (Joshua 5.10-12)
The Custom-
The standing ripe harvest, barley and wheat, would soon be reaped. A person would go to the standing harvest, take one sheaf and bring it to the priest. The lone sheaf was called ” the sheaf of First fruits” The priest would take the one sheaf and wave it before the Lord in his house. A sheaf in scripture is generally used to typify a person or persons. Joseph dreamed a dream where he saw sheaves bow down to his sheaf. This was a prophetic picture of the days ahead where his brothers would bow down to him in repentance in the appointed time. (Genesis 37.5-11)
In Psalm 126 it speaks of the sower going forth to sow in tears. He then comes back in the harvest time bringing his sheaves with him. This is a prophetic picture that could be applied to the Lord Jesus Christ himself. He is the Lord of the HARVEST. In HIS first coming he went as the weeping precious seed and in his second coming he will rejoice in the harvest time bringing all his sheaves with him. These are the redeemed souls which bare fruit.
The first fruits were the BEST, and the first fruits were Holy unto the Lord (Exodus 13.12)
A. The firstborn of both man and beast were sanctified and presented to the Lord.
B. The First fruits of all the earth were to be presented to the Lord at His alter in Praise and thanksgiving.
Christ died and ROSE again!
He is the Firstborn of Mary (Matthew 1.23-25)
He is the First- begotten Of the Father (Hebrews 1.6)
He is the Firstborn from the dead. (Colossians 1.18)
He is the Firstborn among many.(Romans 8.28)
He is the First fruits of the resurrected ones. ( 1 Corinthians 15.20,23)
He is the First and the Last (Revelation 1.18)
He is the Beginning and the End (Revelation 1.8)
He was the firstborn and the “First fruits” unto the Father, he belonged to God, He was the sheaf of the first fruits!
