GONE FOR GOOD

Hello to one and all from here in Innisfail, Far North Queensland, Australia.
I’ve been a member of Forerunner Ministries here in Innisfail for just on 12 months now, and wow, the Lord’s blessings have been upon us all here.
The following is my testimony which I wrote as a poem to share with you all.
Gone For Good
Got prayed for on a Tuesday,
to break the rotten spell.
The alcohol and tobacco,
were my quick way to hell.
I lasted one whole day
without the need to light,
then I gave in to the devil,
lit up and got a fright.
The fear of the Lord is creeping in,
of this I do now know.
I’ve got to keep on pushing in,
this seed from God, I must sow.
So three days later I go to camp
up amongst the hills,
Pastor Joey was talking about
nicotine, addiction and pills.
I penned a drawing of a cigarette
the devil as it’s face,
Don’t ever want to be bound again
and be a hopeless case.
After the lesson I went for a walk,
along the winding path,
A bonfire site I came upon,
a place for the aftermath.
Seven cigarettes I did have left
after lighting up just one,
“Now take the rest and rip them up,
go on and have some fun”
The words they were so loud and clear
from our good Lord above,
“Write satan with your cigarettes,
and burn them with my love”
But hang on Lord, just one more toke
and I’ll do it in the morn,
Yet when I went to walk away
The Lord he did loudly scorn.
The pain riped through my ankles
and up into my knees,
“DO IT NOW, with my love,
I dearly ask you, please.”
I turned around right then and there,
and went back to the fire.
I arranged those last filthy cigarettes,
the word satan, no more shall I desire.
I gathered twigs and pine needles
and did as I was told,
I lit that fire and said goodbye
the past habit, no longer shall hold!
As I walked away to leave,
I asked God for a sign,
to let me know I’d done the right thing
and all was now Divine.
No pain was there in my ankle then,
or in my leg at all,
I thank you Lord for all you’ve done
You catch me before I fall.
So there you have my testimony
on what the Lord has done for me.
Thirty seven years of addictions,
Now I’ve been set free.
